Mama Bakes Bread Gift Certificates!

Elena TsentasComment

What doesn’t go bad, go out of style, and is totally unique? A Mama Bakes Bread gift card! Available in 1, 2, 3, or 4 loaf quantities you can make the family foodie supremely happy. If you’re like me and still have a few folks on your ‘Nice List’ to check off, consider gifting them these one-of-a-kind stocking stuffers.

I recently read an article that suggested that we gift each other experiences rather than things.

Consider this: fresh bread is very much an experience… Engage all your senses: close your eyes and smell the freshly baked bread, you hear the blistered crust crackle as you slice through it and it gives way to the custardy crumb, simply begging for a slab of butter or a dip in some quality olive oil… YUM! This is one pleasant experience that will linger on your taste buds and presents an opportunity to share something wholesome with your friends and family.

Mama’s Bread is always fresh, hand-mixed, naturally leavened (sourdough) and made with organic ingredients. I purchase my flour bulk through Mr. D’s, another locally owned business.

A Mama Bakes Bread gift card is a lovely way to support your community this season while giving a completely unique and delicious gift to your loved ones!

See the Listing in my shop to purchase your gift card and it will be mailed out by the next day. Alternatively, if you would like to pick it up at my house we can make arrangements.

Gift Cards can be redeemed any time after January 1st.

Happy Holidays!

It's Hump Day! A Look at this weekends Farmer's Market

Farmer's MarketElena TsentasComment
It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

There's another Lander Valley Farmer's Market on the horizon and I am gearing up for all the action.  This week I'll be baking through the night to bring you some fresh, hand-mixed, artisan bread.  The following will be available:

Rustic Sourdough ($6.50 per loaf) The go-to table loaf that is perfect for all applications.  Rip off a hunk and nosh.  Slice and make the worlds fanciest grilled cheeses.  Sourdough french toast?  fahgeddaboutit!

White Sourdough ($6.50) Same as above, but with all white flour.  Mellow, sweet.

Smokey Paprika Sourdough ($8)  it's sultry- like the weather in Lander, Wyoming right now.  Pair it with some cool, tangy goat cheese and I think you'll be in Heaven.

Golden Raisin & Fennel ($8) Little drops of golden sun carry this loaf over your tongue- hints of aromatic licorice finish it off.  Utterly decadent.

Kalamata Olive ($8) This seems to be everyone's favorite bread! White sourdough embraces those lovely salty purple Greek olives.

Baking through the night gives you the absolute freshest bread available.  Put that in yer pipe and smoke it!

I am also testing out some new flour - Sir Galahad Artisan Flour.  This flour is NOT organic like the previous bread flour I have been using, but according to all the fancy folks in the world of artisan bread it is THE flour to use.  Thanks to Locally owned Grocery store Mr. D's Food Center for searching it out and bulk ordering it for me!  As always, I strive to use mostly organic products in my bread from flour to fruit to seeds to herbs and will continue to use organic whole wheat and rye flours, among other things.

In other news:  I know that all the advice in the World will tell me to leave Politics out of my business, but I am going to donate a portion of this weeks sales to Together Rising.

In my mind, every human deserves dignity, respect, and empathy.  There are children (5 year olds!) having to represent themselves in immigration court.  As a mother, my heart literally hurts knowing that many of them will never see their families again.  I simply cannot stand by and not try to help.  When I launched my Kickstarter I saw first hand the generosity of people in my community and beyond.  I will forever be paying it forward.

From their website: "100% of what Together Rising receives from your tax-deductible donations goes toward advocacy & reunification efforts for these families"  So when you buy your loaf this weekend, know that it is putting people on the ground to help the children.  Please also consider donating directly to Together Rising- one of my very favorite organizations.

The Farmer's Market will be hoppin' this Saturday morning 9-11:30 at City Park!  We'll have live music and lots of folks in town for Climber's Fest.  We'll see you there!

Last week's Garden Expo was tons of fun!  There were vendors galore with incredible goods and it was great to meet new gluten-loving faces and see my tried and true followers.

Believe or not, this table was empty by noon...

Kickstarter Update- We are FUNDED!

Elena TsentasComment

Friends, Family and Fans,

My Deepest gratitude for the support you've shown.  Not only are we funded, but the pledges keep coming in and we are at $4529 as of this writing.

We talked about this for MONTHS before taking the plunge, and I'm not sure I ever believed it was really going to happen.  I am a self-taught baker and this all came out of a curiosity to see what I was capable of and a drive to provide my family with nourishing food.  Being able to turn it into a means of income for my family is a gift that YOU have bestowed upon me- and for that I am truly grateful.

The Kickstarter will run until March 17th and all contributions made to that point will go toward a mixer and other materials needed for the in-home bakery.

THANK YOU for your support!

2018: The Year of Bread

January 2018Elena TsentasComment

Last year was Full.  Ups, downs, and every iteration in between.  The tiny human I grew is already 8 months old, can you believe it?

Tiny Human, AKA Ruby

Tiny Human, AKA Ruby

Here we are in a new year and I am pleased to be able to get back to doing what I love: baking bread for my Lander community.  I am totally inspired and coming up with new flavor combinations for sourdough and testing out recipes like a madwoman.

I have huge hopes, dreams, plans, expectations for the business this year and I will tell you more about them soon.  In the meantime, thank you for being a part of the journey and letting me feed you.  Expect a website overhaul in the weeks to come!

Taking a pause for new beginnings...

Elena TsentasComment

Spring is the time of new life!  The birds have returned to lend their voices to the morning hum.  The wildflowers are slowly poking their pretty heads up from the soil.  The kids have resumed their shoeless shenanigans!  ...And I am growing a tiny human that is set to emerge mid-may.  Yep, this Mama has been baking all kinds of bread this winter!

My seasonal bread shares are coming to an end on April 21st.  I will not be baking for our rad farmers market this summer, but I will still be participating on the board as much as possible and I am looking forward to all the exciting activity this season.

Bread Shares will resume next Fall.  I am looking forward to this time off to be with family and perfect my bread for next season.

Don't forget to get your buns to the Lander Valley Farmer's Market every Saturday in City Park!  Have a glorious summer, friends.
